A Playdate and Pasta

David and I had a fun day entertaining friends for some playtime and a pasta lunch today!  I find that pasta is pretty well received by most toddlers, so it’s a great choice when entertaining younger ones.  And…I think pasta is a pretty easy thing to “veganize” without being too different.

I try not to scare off guests by serving seitan or tofu when I don’t know their eating preferences…that comes further down the road 🙂

I set up a buffet so that the moms could make plates for their own kids, as well as themselves.  I offered a bowl of green peas (one of David’s favorites) and bananas.  I made a big bowl of whole wheat pasta (I like Whole Foods’ 365 brand…good price and organic!) and I drizzled it with a bit of olive oil.

I had two different sauces on hand that I had made earlier in the week…my Oven Roasted Pasta Sauce and Popeye’s Pesto Pasta Sauce.

A quick green salad with an apple cider-dijon vinaigrette and an array of toppings for the mamas and we were set!

toppings for salad or pasta…your choice!

We had a fun morning, a yummy (and easy to prepare) lunch, and everyone went home with a full tummy!
